My Daddy is 70!

Fourth of July weekend, we make the trek to Gallup to help surprise my Dad with a 70th birthday party.  If he truly didn't know about it, we aren't sure how....but Brooke kept her mouth shut about it and he seemed genuinely surprised.  It was at a skating rink in Gallup that some good friends of the family own, so who says you have to have a boring party when you hit 70?!

Just some fun pictures from the party:

Brooke and Granny.

My girl....she loved that Granddad was so shocked!

Lots of wonderful, life long friends were there.....pictures is my nephew, Cohen and brother Lynn.

Cohen strutting his stuff.

We didn't dare go for 70 candles, but we did add a few and had fun with it!

We requested cards and gag gifts only, so we enjoyed reading the fun cards!

What he seemed to enjoy more than anything else!

The pro helping our girl.

More of my Dad.

My Dad spent his actual birthday in Alabama with his siblings.  Here are a few of the pics they shared with me.

Dad, aka Bear Bryant....if you don't know who it is, well obviously you aren't a BAMA fan!

Blowing out his breakfast birthday candles!

This was when we were at their house, the morning we were heading home.  Love the time we spent together!

Artistic

Brooke has been in two separate weeks of tumbling class out here, and she has been to several little day camps such as this one where her and a friend learned painting techniques.  I am learning not to push her into things SHE doesn't want to do, such as sports and am trying to support her in learning the things that interest her....like art, crafts, music and dance.  Not everyone is cut out for sports....I am working on my weird need to want to push her into what 'everyone else' is doing anyway.....

More Updates.

This is Max....the puppy we rescued and never got rid of.  Love him, yep.....did I forget how much WORK potty training a puppy was, yep....especially a skittish, possibly abused puppy....yep....we are thinking of diapers.....but he is really good, and very sweet on Brooke.

Another self shot.

An updated tooth picture for the grandparents.....

Garden??

I will attempt to take a recent picture to prove that we are actually growing stuff.....but I had to share our little garden we planted.....Steven made the rows by hand and had a little help planting.  I had nothing to do with her 'farming' outfit.  ;)

More Summer Fun.

Lots of pictures to follow.  I think Brooke sees a lot of our friends posting self portraits, so she asks me quite often to take "our" picture together.....I oblige at least once a week....

And Proof of our artistic girl.....LOVE it!
She has been practicing teaching herself guitar and writing her own songs.  Some of them are downright hilarious, but some of them are really good.  Either way I make sure to enjoy.....

We have done lots of crafts......

Even notice the hand made crown....

Day one of Summer Break.

Normally I am INSANE with the amount of pictures I taken of a certain young lady, but I must say this year I have been enjoying her more without picture proof.  This picture will give you an idea as to what we do when it's above 90 outside.....

My Loves

We are all still alive and very happy!  It's been a busy summer and I will attempt to catch you all up soon!  Steven started work with a new company July 1st, and so far it has been nothing but a POSITIVE, much needed change.....another prayer answered!

Brooke and I have been enjoying her time off from school, but it is making me learn how to manage my time better while she is here!  I have taken on a couple of new clients (another prayer answered), so I am balancing work with normal house stuff, summer fun and an attention starved 7 year old!

I will send pics soon of my sweet Daddy's 70th surprise party, and anything else I can think of!

My sweet Brooke picked us out some matching dresses and requested we wear them today, so I figured I had better before she becomes way too cool to dress like Mommy.
