I am sure you will see other pictures of Brooke in her Halloween costume, but she got to wear it to school today for the last day of Red Ribbon Week: Drugs Are Scary! She self described her costume as a "girly cat" so there you go.....my FAVORITE Girly Cat!

Wild About Being Drug Free!
Today was the EASIEST morning to get this ornery girl dressed. It is WILD About Being Drug Free Day and they said to make Wild Hair OR to dress Wild. Well, I had tons of ideas about wild hair with this kid having SO much hair.....but she wanted to wear the wild outfit and this is the wildest hair do I could talk her into.
Yep, those are two different boots. The only reason her legs match is because they are tights and she couldn't do anything about that....the things on her arms are toe socks that she's wearing as gloves....fun, fun, fun!
And one with her leopard print jacket she's been begging to wear!

Nerd Day!
Nerd Day - "Be Smart, don't be a bully or do drugs."
This one was exceptionally hard....she is too matchy matchy right now to WANT to dress 'nerdy', so this is as close as it gets....add white socks, pig tails and glasses....

Hat Day!
Red Ribbon Week, Day 2 - "Put a Cap on Drugs and Alcohol."
Girly caps are pretty scarce around here, so our sweet diva opted to wear her PURPLE fedora....then sweetly asked if I could try to find her a hot pink sequined cap....love this girly girl!

Red Ribbon Week!
Today is Day One of Red Ribbon Week at school (which means another week of dressing up), and they are supposed to "Team Up against Bullying and Drugs" by wearing their favorite team jersey. She only has Texas Tech jerseys anyway, but naturally she chose to wear her PINK one and make it as girly as possible!

Little Miss Priss.
Anyone that knows this girl knows the name fits......but this morning Little Miss Priss was SO prissy that I just giggled the entire time. I love making her things, so the latest was this dress out of a women's t-shirt for their 'pink out' pep rally today at school....after I made it she requested that I add a ruffle and something else....so yep, the ruffle and flower were her idea. Anyway, this morning she took her jacket off as soon as we walked in the school doors and strutted her stuff more than I have seen before. She loved the compliments, and made sure to wave and tell everyone good morning. Life is truly NEVER dull with Little Miss Priss in our lives!
And, I thought I would share another recent drawing of hers.....this is her interpretation of our family.....notice Mommy on the far right with the long straight hair, Daddy in the middle (she did add legs later), and curly haired Brooke on the left. Cute stuff!

Happy Autumn!
This morning we experienced our first cool morning of the season, and Brooke has already learned how much fun it is to get to wear something 'different' and that it's an awesome way to welcome in a new season!
I included this one because she said "wait Mommy take one more with THIS pose".....um, okay!

Melt my Heart.
All things in life seem pretty petty to me after receiving things like this:
And, this is MY picture Brooke drew in her "M" book for school.....LOVE it! And, yes I do feel that way most days lately!

Wonderful Reminder.....
I think I needed to read this on this hectic morning....sometimes I am so wrapped up in our school schedule that I forget to stop and enjoy my wonderful child and to just let her enjoy life!
Borrowed from the Joyful Mother on Facebook.

Look who came to our house this afternoon....courtesy of a package Brooke got in the mail today.....
And, with this handsome devil hanging around Steven might have to worry..... ;o)

Pool Fun.
Posing for someone else......
Skipping as fast as she could.
Smiling for her teacher.
And, thanks to a friend I have one WITH my girl!
It was LOUD in there with 2 Pre-K classes, 2 Kinder classes, 1st and 2nd grade......I let her ride the bus back to the school so I could enjoy the quiet ride....hehe. No, I really gave her the choice to ride with me and get ice cream or ride the bus back and go to the pep rally.....naturally this girl picked pep rally over ice cream.

Random.
The garden was planted later than normal this year.....but you won't hear any complaints out of us! We have been eating, chopping and freezing lots of zucchini, yellow squash and okra....they are WONDERFUL added to soups and stews all winter long. Brooke got in on the action too of course.....with a butter knife, but the pile around her cutting board she did all by herself.
Proof I still need to keep the camera up HIGHER.....self portrait.
Look who visited the house yesterday evening.....SUPER GIRL....or her version anyway. ;o)
I love the world of amazing crafty mom's.....I traded some of my crafts for this awesome crocheted New Home/Texas Tech colored hat for my angel.....
And proof that this girl is an even combination of Momma AND Daddy.....like me, she can piddle like nobody's business and take FOREVER to do anything.....and like her Daddy, she is very artistic....even in her piddling. This was her artistic addition to breakfast this morning.....she said it's "Larry the Banana instead of cucumber".

Why we no longer use FILM!
Because these silly pictures would be considered wasteful if we had to pay to have them developed! Poor five year old doesn't even know what film is.....
This five year old is currently obsessed with her nostrils.....she loves flaring them and wiggling them at any time....especially if you are trying to talk to her seriously. She flares her nostrils and just waits while the adults all chuckle.....sheesh.
Side note, she changes clothes nearly every day after school into something she knows I wouldn't ever let her leave the house in.....last night was the too short cheer dress, leopard and hot pink headband and white jelly shoes.
She adores our dogs.....and although they are extremely ornery and most of the time I think they are more work than the two legged kid....they adore Brooke and are very protective of her, which I love. She aggravates them and does anything she wants to them and the worst thing they've ever done is growl and run off.
This is the first picture of Brooke with Cooper.....he is looking to see who is hugging him...
And, don't panic....this is how he plays. He saw who it is and he starts snarling.....then as soon as he can he will turn and lick her, make her squeal "GROSS!" and take off only to come right back for more.
Brooke hugging on Macy.....we have had this little pooch for at least a year now and cannot imagine life without her.

5 Year Well Check.
Every year we all three get flu shots.....love the idea of prevention! I called and the doctor reminded me that I had never taken Brooke in for a 5 year check up and that was required before a flu shot. SO, this morning she got to be late to school in order to get checked out by the doctor and get her flu shot.
She is healthy as a horse.....although, Grandad was the grunting, panting horse in this picture when they were here last week.
