TGIF and Happy Halloween to all! We have a fun filled, hectic weekend planned with lots of trick or treating, parties and even cotton stripping planned! Here is a sneak peek of our breath taking mermaid! Today is "Say Boo to drugs" at school, so she was thrilled to get to wear this all day.
Thie week has been Red Ribbon week at Brooke's school, so this means another fun week of dressing up and activities. Monday was "We pledge to be hands off drugs" and they wore t-shirts that their friends got to sign. I took this picture after a long day at school, and you can only see a few signatures, but her back is covered.
Tuesday was "Put a cap on drugs" but of course my super stubborn sweetie wouldn't wear a cap, or even her ultra cute purple hat her Daddy got her....instead she wore her cowgirl hat again.
Wednesday they didn't participate in the "wild about being drug free" dressing up because instead they had a great field trip to the corn maize in Shallowater. I have wanted to go there for years, so I tagged along as a helpful parent and enjoyed the morning!
Brooke and a sweet classmate Hadyn were my responsibility, so you will see lots of pictures of Brooke and Hadyn. I put this picture first because on the hay ride one of the Dad's gave Brooke a corn cob. She hung on to this silly thing all morning....through the maize, the cow train ride, etc....and this goat stole it. The look on her face was hilarious....she wasn't sure whether or not to get upset because it was a GOAT!!

For about the last week or so, Brooke has been acting sad when I drop her off at school instead of her normal bubbly self. I wondered if it was her new allergy medicine until this weekend. I have been missing her terribly lately, and this weekend I think she proved that is her problem too. She never leaves my side when she is out of school these days, and I am not complaining. For her entire life I have been second choice when Daddy is around.....until now. I am guessing maybe she is actually missing our time together just as much as I am. That does make a little part of me happy.....but I don't want her to be sad for anything! We were inseperable this weekend. We played until Momma was worn out!
I did learn one weird thing this weekend. I am NOT ready to be called Grandma by anyone. Brooke brought me her favorite doll, aka Lucy and told me "Momma, Lucy wants her Grandma to hold her for a while." CRINGE....I officially begged Brooke to call me ANYTHING but Grandma....Mimi, Gigi, Tutu.....and I failed. I am Lucy's Grandma....and Brooke giggles every time she says it, fully knowing it makes me cringe. My grandbaby, all dolled up in her pink for breast cancer awareness month....and blue chapstick.
Daddy got Brooke a hula hoop this weekend. It is a smaller one, and I am hoping that is why I cannot keep it on my hips for anything! Instead Brooke played a number of other games with it.
At one point yesterday the puppies (we were watching Nipper for the weekend, so you will see Nipper, Cooper and Macy) were play fighting all around the living room. Brooke decided this looked like loads of fun and for the rest of the afternoon she too was a puppy. Yep, barking, crawling, play fighting, wanting her tummy rubbed, etc.....although SHE was the only puppy that would jump through the hula hoop. ;o)

I think I am back in business after having a sinus infection and am hoping Brooke and Steven can get rid of their coughy crud as well. Have a great week everyone!

I just had to share proof that this little girl knows how to color coordinate with her own funky style like nobody's business! I did however put my foot down on one thing with this outfit. She wanted to wear her hot pink cowgirl boots too, and I told her NOT with the knee highs.....so, here you have it....her self styled outfit for school this morning!
She still doesn't want her hair put up at all because "princesses always wear their hair down."
I have been asked by certain grandparents where their pictures of Brooke have been for the last week, so I took the camera outside with us and decided to take pictures of anything she did....whether exciting or not. This girl is amazing.....love every second with her, even when it involves drama, tears, and whining. She is still very particular about what she wears. Some days I put in my two cents, but I mostly try to just assist her in getting ready and let her own style show through.....but that can be very entertaining some days, and I get some really strange looks about some of her outfits, but hey.....love her no matter what she is wearing!
This is my favorite time of year, I love the changing of the weather, the holidays approaching and all of the crazy activities planned around a child. I am trying to focus on that, NOT on the fact that I think Steven, Brooke and myself all three just might be getting sinus infections from the stuff in the air......as we always do in October.
Anyway, here is my angel just playing around in our front drive earlier today. Picking up rocks and anything else she can find.....

Yes, I realize it is time for a larger bike of some sort....I am holding out hoping Santa (or grandparents, hehe) brings her one before her knees hit the handle bars.
I avoided peace symbols at all costs at first.....now I am starting to embrace them for Brooke because I realize she doesn't know what they stood for in the 70's and 80's and just try to teach her what peace really means.....
Love those baby blues! Just sorry that my baby got my dark circles under her eyes, especially during allergy season!
Yesterday I was in town running my weekly errands and I decided to go through a toy isle to start getting Christmas ideas for a certain good little girl, when the emotions of just how grown up she is hit me!
There is nothing babyish about her anymore! The size of clothes she is in makes it harder and harder to even make her LOOK like a little girl. And she is already showing a huge interest in Barbie's and Barbie type dolls! WOW!! A good friend of ours gave her some hand-me-down (LOVE those) Barbie books, which we read daily now. And all she can talk about is growing up!! "When I get big like you.......you'll let ME drive." I plead with time to slow down, but it is not cooperating!
Brooke in a not so little girl dress, but she did manage to add accesories to it that made it look more like a little girl.....love her fashion sense! She wants to wear her hair down most days with a simple flower in it because "princesses don't wear pony tails".... Side note, look at those long skinny legs....she is even built like a big girl now! At least once a day she is still worn out enough to want her mommy to hold her, which I never deny.....even if her feet hit my KNEES when I pick her up.
Normal updates, she still weighs the same as she did at her 3 year check up (under 41 pounds), I haven't measured her height recently, but I can tell you that her 5T long sleeved shirts and pants from last Fall are too short. She is learning SO much at school. She knew her uppercase letters, but now practices her lower case letters all the time. She loves to play school at home every single evening, where of course SHE is the teacher. Right now when she grows up she wants to be a princess, a teacher, a momma, a cheerleader and on occasion a puppy. She still wants to drive a little Volkswagon Beetle and it has to be red. She wants her Daddy to get it for her NOW so she can practice driving because she is convinced her legs are already long enough to hit the pedals. She is already talking about how she will be in Kindergarten next year, but she is already as big as those kids. I could go on and on about her funny sayings, but I will sign off for now.
I grew up going to a small private school, so all of this Homecoming stuff is new to me! Don't get me wrong, we had Homecoming.....but we didn't have dress up days, parades, pep rallies, festivals, football, and yes I could keep going! It has been a very hectic, but FUN week here in New Home!
I am going to try to show you part of the parade yesterday. It was a lot bigger of a deal than I expected! Here is our sweetheart all ready to go!

I am not posting ALL of the parade stuff, but here are a few of the other cute floats. In case you were wondering the New Home Leopards play the Cotton Center Elks for their Homecoming game, and it was an awesome game that they won easily by shutting them down in the 3rd quarter by the 45 point rule! Final score: 72-24 with over 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Don't faint family members, or even adjust your monitor. That is OUR Brooke wearing JEANS! It only happens once a year or so it seems, so I am glad I happened to purchase a pair that just so happened to be red and black and just so happened to be a 6x because she needs them for those long legs!
The story behind the jeans is that although today is red and black day and Brooke would much rather have worn a wild skirt, their Homecoming parade is also today and they were asked to wear jeans and a white t-shirt so they would all match. I decorated the Leopard shirt for her and luckily found these super cute jeans on sale earlier in the week that happened to be red and black....what luck! All of her jeans from last year would have been high waters on her and I hadn't wanted to buy any knowing she wouldn't wear them!
Now if she only knew how stinking cute she is in jeans! TGIF people! Will be more pictures to come of parade festivities, pep rally and Homecoming football game tonight!

Brooke is a stickler for detail, and she did not like my version of Minnie Mouse because Minnie is supposed to wear a shirt that matches her polk a dot skirt NOT a white shirt, and Minnie does NOT wear socks; she wears bare feet and high heels.....yep, dramatic!

This has by far been the most dramatic morning of the week. How do you explain what a nerd is to a child who has been told NOT to call names and NOT to categorize people?! I ended up calling it silly day. Telling her that she needed to dress silly. THAT is hard when I have a girl on my hands who loves to match! Her colors still match, but this is a 'nerdy/silly' as I could get her to agree to. I tried to have pig tails lopsided, but after a near tear situation I decided it wasn't worth the argument!
Yes, the glasses are extremely crooked.....but she didn't even want to wear them, so I take what I can get!!
Don't dare call Brooke a cowboy! She will correct you and let you know very quickly that she is a cowGIRL and cowgirl's wear boots, hat and SKIRTS! This is Brooke's version of a cowgirl for school this morning. Yes, I added bling bling to her once boring cowboy um cowgirl hat because she wanted it to sparkle. Diva?! Most definitely!
This week in New Home is Homecoming week! Every day they get to dress some fun way to try to get in the spirit! Today is Pajama Day and I must say Brooke was ready for school so early that she got to watch some cartoons before our long 45 second ride to school. You know Brooke though, she had to wear cute shoes and a flower in her hair!
At the end of every six weeks at school, the school rewards the students that haven't been in too much trouble by allowing them to have a party all day. This first six weeks party for the elementary school consisted of a swimming party at Bodyworks, lunch at school, playing outside, pep rally and then time to go home! No nap time, no actual learning time....so they LOVED it and will look forward to the end of every six weeks!
You know me, I took TONS of pictures....but I tried to only post the ones where Brooke will be easily spotted to spare you a few extra minutes. When I first spotted Brooke walking off the bus I noticed she had blood running down her little leg. For those of you who know me well, you know poor Brooke seems to get her coordination from me. She didn't tell the teachers she fell because she was afraid they wouldn't let her swim. Check out her poor little beat up legs. She was sitting here waiting patiently to go inside and start the swimming fun!

It took her a while to actually get wet above the knees. She also gets her timidness from me. She followed some friends up the stairs right about the time one of the big buckets started dumping water and before she knew it she was soaked and having a blast!
