PLAY DAY!

Yesterday after lunch was their annual Play Day out on the football field.  The high school student council kids organize games for them to play and they always have a blast.  Lots of parents were there to watch with LOTS of sunscreen, it couldn't have been a more beautiful day for it!

Here is a pic of my FAVORITE tip toe walker!  She wags her hips like no other when she is on her toes....makes me smile....of course!

Tug O War!  In case you don't spot her, far left....on the very end, tugging on her toes of course!

Running a race.  She has my speed....or should I say lack thereof.  She didn't come in last, but she was so sad that she didn't come in at least third because the first three to finish got a stick.  I just asked her if a stick was that important to her and always assure her of how proud I am that she finished!

To those of you I haven't talked to lately.  Brooke still has allergy induced asthma that we are working to get under control.  We went back to the original doctor that diagnosed her since I don't feel like it's been under control since FEBRUARY....yes, you read right.  Ever since her bronchitis flare up in February I feel like it's been one flare up at least once a week.  We took her to the doc and the doc diagnosed her with basically walking pneumonia!  Her asthma was not causing this flare up....her asthma seems to be under control at this time.  She has been on medication to control the asthma and to treat the walking pneumonia since Tuesday and so far she hasn't coughed once....has slept two nights in a row (can you say WAHOO!!)....and seems to be getting the steroids out of her system, therefore acting more like BROOKE! This whole ordeal just goes to remind me to follow our parent instincts....Steven and I knew something wasn't working right....and now we know why!

Kindergarten Graduate!!

BITTERSWEET....another definition....a mommy definition would be watching your child grow up!  We want our child to be healthy, happy and 'normal' but it is going by SO fast that you cannot help but get a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye!  It does not seem possible that our SIX year old is already graduating from Kindergarten.  She has learned SO much and has so much to learn!  She loved the entire process....school, the extra attention at graduation, singing....she even had a solo!!  It was PRECIOUS!

Our girl, going to get her diploma.

Strutting her stuff across the stage!

Me, embarrassing her by making her stop long enough to get a picture!

The two people that mean more to me than I could ever express!

Our pride and joy!

My two favorites!

And, Brooke with one of HER favorites....I see this picture being in their high school graduation ceremony as well!  Brooke and Connor.

Thank you to everyone who came.  It seemed like a rushed ordeal yesterday, but I assure you Brooke remembered every single moment.  She was telling me how happy she was that everyone came, and named you all individually.  After lots of talking, we finally convinced her that she was not going into first grade TODAY....that she has the next week to totally goof off with her Kindergarten classmates before summer vacation!

Better than Kissin' Frogs!

Look what a sweet girl got to kiss today at school!!  Sure beats Kissing Frogs, don't you say?!

I LOVE living in a small community!  One of the parents thought the kids would enjoy a visit at the school from two baby zebras, so she made it happen!  It was by far the highlight of the week!  The same mother also made sure to get pictures of the kids each individually kissing the zebras so mommas like me can see the fun they had!

True Beauty.

I am pretty certain that Steven and I at least daily, look at this precious angel we were entrusted with and say something along the lines of "she is SO precious".....she is!  Her personality has us constantly laughing, she keeps us on our toes and the things she comes up with are priceless!

In this picture, we have proof of her watching one too many Barbie movies.....she has been a fashion model lately....and this morning she told me she was going to be a Fashionista when she grows up, then she asked me what a Fashionista was and I told her she already WAS one!  This outfit I am telling you about because she went inside to change into shorts and a t-shirt out of an ankle length dress....instead she came out like this because in her own words "Momma, I just couldn't do the t-shirt thing and this dress is shorter"....her fashion model pose....one of many.
They have been learning about conserving and recycling at school lately.  A great thing for anyone at any age to learn.....comical however because we have been watching a friends house and they left lights on while they were out of town.  EVERY time we go over there I am having to turn some back on because Brooke turned them off because they are "wasting electricity Momma".

She might also be using it to her advantage.  Friday night was family movie/pizza night for us....Saturday night I was cooking dinner and she made this plea "Momma, we don't need to be wasteful.  Can I have the pizza from last night for dinner tonight too, so we won't WASTE it?"

There are so many other little things she does and says that make us laugh, but I ALWAYS go blank when I am typing.....she is already planning her 7th birthday party....even though it is now 11 months away.  She asks DAILY to rollerskate and has been begging Daddy to put the pool up.....she is ready for summer and so am I!

Her asthma doc told us to watch her closely any time we have a 'front' going through and sure enough, she's been having to do breathing treatments all weekend.  I hope that we are learning to watch the warning signs so maybe we can keep it from turning so serious so quickly....I know most parents dislike their kids being sick, but seeing one gasp for a breath is downright scary and makes us feel helpless!

She only has three more weeks of school....one week until Kindergarten Graduation....the last week of school will basically be field trip/play week.....so she wore her I Heart Kindergarten dress today and told me "Momma, I better wear this at least one more time before it becomes obsolete"....that HAS to be a word she heard from her Daddy because I KNOW I don't use it!

Men are from Mars, Women from Where?!

MY idea of a work out.....hard work, sweaty, and over in an hour or less......
Steven's idea of a workout.....hard work, sweaty, accomplishes great things, takes 8+ hours some times....this post is for those of you who constantly tell us we're a "skinny" couple....well, if YOU followed this man around every day, I promise, you too would be skinny!  He NEVER stops....is always accomplishing something, and it's always hard work!

Side note though, I am extremely grateful and always have been of my hard working husband.  I am very blessed he is not a Tim the Tool Man Taylor off of the show that used to play on TV!  He is good at everything he does, AND he saves us TONS of money and allows us to do things we wouldn't be able to any other way!

Because of recent water restrictions, we had a well drilled....and he spent the day trenching the hole and plumbing/wiring, etc....it to the pressure tank, etc.....making it to where it works correctly basically.

He had a little help covering the hole though.....Steven; the priceless, always there for us Uncle Bro (Dennis); and a VERY helpful, curious young lady: Brooke!
She kept saying "Whew, this is HARD work Momma you should come help."  Nope, I was there for moral support and to take pictures!

Happy May!

Happy First day of May!  I am READY for this stinker to be out of school for summer!  Unlike a lot of parents that I hear these days, I am ready to hear the constant "Mom, Mom, Mom" that comes with Brooke not being in school.  I am ready to not have a strict schedule....hurry up and eat, hurry up and do homework, hurry up and bathe, hurry up and get in bed....I think you get the point!  I am ready for us to cuddle while watching cartoons in our pj's.  I am ready for my book keeping clients that stop by on weekday mornings to once again think I am nuts when they pull up at 11 and we're still in our pj's!  I am ready to lounge by our $49.99 pool in our backyard, eat popsicles, spray on more sunscreen......

If you cannot tell, I am ready for some quality BROOKE TIME!  Being the first day of May it is as close as ever!!

Things to look at in this picture....beautiful blue eyes of course, why markers will soon be taken away when in the backseat of the vehicle....her left arm is written all over, the spaghetti sauce all over her face....she had to slurp every single noodle and you know what....it didn't hurt a thing....I just laughed (I am TRYING to not be such a neat freak with our six year old)!
