More Colorado Fun!

We CANNOT go to Colorado without really getting into the mountains.  We normally do this by jeeping because it's more comfortable for a little kid...and grand parents too.

Steven won't ever stop the jeep until he gets above the timber line.

This picture just makes me laugh because as her Daddy was scaling a rock for the perfect spot to take a picture, she is posed and smiling at the camera the entire time.
Notice the snow and the waterfall....it was chilly up there!
This is the picture my sweet Daddy took I was talking about paying him back for in an earlier post....sheesh, how else is a girl in flip flops supposed to get up there?!  Steven didn't volunteer to carry ME!

We barely made this picture, but the scenery is still amazing!  How could anyone ever deny there is a God when you see this?!

And, of course with Steven's love of old vehicles we had to stop and check this thing out.  It was way up there!

Jeeping memories with Grandad....something that is very important to ME because I have such wonderful memories of my grandparents and Dad of course.

We call this OUR waterfall because we have a framed print of a picture of us in this waterfall three years ago as well.

I think it's safe to say that we weren't ready to leave the mountains!

Colorado, More....

Sometimes a kid just needs to chill with her Grandad....

We took Brooke back to my Favorite Chuckwagon, Bar D.  We have been going there since I was around 5 years old, and used to go several times a summer!  She loves the old looking shops, the shorter train ride, the people and her favorite part is the COWBOYS that sing after an amazing dinner served on tin plates....she sang, tapped her feet, wiggled and laughed the entire time!

Here we are riding the 'short train'.....no comments from you Paw.  ;o)  Steven was busy visiting with my brother, who I didn't even get a picture of!

We took our picture in front of this wagon 3 years ago....my how she has grown!
She kept saying 'honey dew' at the camera....hence this expression on her face.

Colorado Train Ride

This post will be FULL of pictures.  Just be glad I didn't even send half of them to the blog!  I had to share just some of the beautiful Colorado scenery that I miss seeing so frequently.  Don't get me wrong I LOVE Texas, even the flatness of my surroundings here, but that doesn't mean I don't miss the beauty you are about to see....

My little family at the train depot in Durango, Co...do I look like a tourist or what?!  I took our jackets because NORMALLY it would be cool in the mountains, this year while it was 110 back home it was 95 in Durango!!

LOVED the time we got to spend with my folks as well!

I don't think the photos do the scenery justice, but you get the idea!

The tour guide on the train told us this house on top of that mountain was Larry Bird's....hmmm...smart guy.
More breath taking scenery.

I thought this looked like fun!  Fly fishing with his faithful puppy behind him.

When we win the lottery (haha) we are so doing this.....zip lining down the mountains!

I thought by age six a little girl would love the train ride.  Don't get me wrong, she enjoyed it and was very well behaved the entire time, even took a lot of the pictures herself.  I however, did not realize that the ride TO Silverton was 4 hours long since it was uphill....the ride back is shorter, but my parents met us up there so we could goof off all we wanted to....anyway, this was her about 3 hours in.....

And, about 3-1/2 hours in.....delirious yet?!

The story behind this one: if you can find the red dot, it is a hood of a car....and a ways above the red hood is the rest of the car that rolled off the highway up above....talk about a scary way to get down the mountain....no thank you!

And, we finally made it.....and would you believe that I did not take a single picture of the even more breath taking town of Ouray!! :o(

Colorado Vacation, Day 1.

We finally took another family vacation AWAY from home.  The last time we did this was three years ago, so it was much needed and very much enjoyed!

We hung out a lot at the town house outside Durango, Colorado.....one of my favorite places, and I think it's safe to say one of Steven and Brooke's favorites as well.

Brooke, eating ice cream while doing, what else would a kid want to do in the mountains, besides watching a DVD?!

I am posting this view of My Dad eating ice cream as sort of a pay back for a picture he took of me, which I will post later so you know how ornery he is!

I could NOT wait to get outside in the fresh mountain air....so, I sort of forced it upon everyone else.  ;o)
Much needed Father/Daughter time.

And much needed Granny time too...
