Nothing.

To explain the title: It has become a weekend tradition to have lunch with Uncle Bro and Elise. While we were sitting at the table visiting this past weekend, somehow it came up that Steven is always working. Brooke's response was, "Yep, he does EVERYTHING." To which Uncle Bro asked what she does, and she proceeded to name "go to school, color, dress up" and lots of other things. Then Uncle Bro asked what Momma does....her response came way too quickly for my comfort, "Nothing" and she just kept eating. WHAT?! Everyone at the table knew better so they kept prodding in an attempt to make me feel more appreciated and she finally changed her answer to "Well, Momma always makes dinner." Um, maybe a little better.....but why on earth am I so worn out over doing NOTHING all the time?! I know any other mother knows how much of nothing I truly do.....but man staying busy all day apparently doesn't sink in with a three year old! HA! As if Mom's ever feel over appreciated.....times like that remind me that being a mother isn't about recognition. Being a mom is about the unconditional love in our hearts for our child, it's about teaching them right from wrong (somedays harder than others), and it's about being there! To my own mother, thank you for all the times you did "nothing" for it showed me what is most important in life. And to all the other mom's out there.....if you ever feel unappreciated, know you're not....it just may take your child a while to figure out what all you've done for them.

NOW, on to the fun stuff. A few pictures from our week of doing 'nothing'. All of the pictures show a budding imagination, which I L O V E!

Daddy wears contacts, so on weekend mornings he wears his glasses. She begged and begged for her own pair of glasses, so I finally popped the lenses out of an old pair of sunglasses and wah lah, her favorite 'reading glasses' were born.

Grandad is an infamous Sam's shopper. One of his latest trips brought Brooke an awesome swim suit with built in floaties. She naturally wanted to try it on and was running around flexing her new 'muscles'.

When I am working on the computer she is almost always in the room with me. Well, Nana and Paw got this booster seat a week or so back and we use it in their car when they come and will eventually use it in ours....yes, she is already SO tall that our child seats that claim to fit her up to 100 pounds are almost too short for her....the only down side to being so tall. She loves her pink seat and always wants to sit in it.....so, of course this is now where she reads her stories while I am working.

Thanks to farming being in a 'laid bye' state (farming terms....I just learned it means just waiting on the cotton to grow) we have had Steven home more a lot lately. We've spent the evenings covered in bug spray enjoying the beautiful weather, and Steven has been repainting some needed spots with help of course. Here he was scraping off the old paint and Brooke was cleaning it up.....my guess is this cleaning phase will be gone by the time she's a teenager.

Long story short, due to health issues my sweet Dad is wearing an eye patch until his eye is fully functioning again. He smarted off that all he needed was some bubba teeth and he'd look like a pirate. Well, I didn't find any bubba teeth but this is what we sent in his care package instead.....Argh Grandad.

As I've said before Brooke's imagination is always in full swing. The other night I had the TV on the movie Enchanted. Of course it has a princess in it and Brooke ran to get her princess garb on. Anytime Daddy walked by she asked, "Daddy will you dance wif me?" and of course he never turned it down.

Like her princess outfit?

This was just yesterday. I've been starting to finally let go a little bit and let her choose more of her own outfits when she wants to......which I let her fully choose yesterday. She doesn't clash.....and she left the tiara and skirt at home when we ventured out, but when Nana and Paw showed up with these cute toe socks, well the outfit was complete!
