Anyone that knows me well knows how important family is to me. I want Brooke to have the same family values that Steven and I were both raised with. To learn that although sometimes you will want to strangle a family member, part of being a family is the love you share. I don't want this whole post to be sappy, but my Great Grandmother was such a huge part of my life all while growing up. We were very blessed to be raised in the same city with so much family. I got to spend summers with my great grandmother. She taught me SO many things, not just crafty things.....but a lot about life and about having common sense, as well as how to always be young at heart.
I also want Brooke to know that every handmade thing she's been given was made with unconditional love. She needs to know how much work goes into those handmade things. Case in point, her latest hand me down. My Great Grandmother made me this quilt when I was a baby, and I remember carrying this thing around....and having it with me all the time. Since Brooke loves to be "covered up" I thought it was time to share and let her have some of her own fun memories with this quilt. After digging it out, I put it on her bed as if to make her bed.....which didn't last long. She squealed "Momma, pretty blanket....cover me please" and she proceeded to do this off and on all morning.
Yes, Brooke is the lump under the covers.
Coming up for air after she heard the first camera flash!
I know it is with my 'Great-Granny's' blessing that I pass this on to her. It sends chills up and down my spine to imagine the giggle that would be coming from her right now to see yet another grandchild enjoying something she's made for them.
