Our vicious guard dog Cooper.

For those of you who don't know Cooper, he is our DOG. We have had him since 2001, so he was one of our first 'babies'. He is supposedly a ratt terrier, but if you cannot tell he is close to 30 pounds (although currently on a diet).....so, far from small like most terriers are. The funniest story I have about him lately is that on our Christmas card we sent out last year I signed it 'Steven, Vicki, Brooke and Cooper' and he wasn't included in the pictures....I got SO many emails asking if I were pregnant.....NO, I just didn't think to mention he was a DOG!

Back to Cooper's personality. He really is awesome with Brooke. He is very protective of her, loves to wake her up and when he gets tired of her wildness he just growls and goes and lays on our bed, which is too high for Brooke to reach. Now to explain the pictures. He is such a wonderful guard dog...YEAH RIGHT! Steven brought in a noisy wind up truck the other night, which Cooper despises, but as you can tell by the pictures he HID behind Brooke the entire time he was barking and growling at it! How brave is that?!

After all the wildness was over, Brooke turned around to comfort her poor pooch.

It reminds me of a time, years ago, when my cousin Nathan was coming into town. He had to drive in from Colorado, so he didn't get to our house until about 2 in the morning. I told him to just come in the front door and there was a bed ready for him....not thinking about our dogs. At the time we had two dogs, Bandit and Cooper. Bandit was seriously a great guard dog....he had my cousin pinned in the corner barking and growling at him, and would not let him in the house....and there was sweet Cooper, HIDING behind me growling at him.
