Remember the old saying 'while the cat's away the mice will play'? Well, that has been Brooke and me this week. Daddy has been out of town on business (poor dude is in FLORIDA), so Brooke and I have been making things and just enjoying our girl bonding time. Steven likes pizza.....just not every day, and this happens to be Brooke's favorite food currently. The good thing is we can put anything on it and she will eat it. But last night I let HER make the pizza. What was I thinking?! Well, I was thinking of it being a learning experience for her....and that I just restocked on Clorox wipes for the cleanup afterwards.
First step was rolling out the dough....she did it all by herself....and I went back in and filled in the holes where she had pinched out a taste for herself.
Second was the marinara.....um, this was the messiest part by far. I let her spread it out using a basting brush.....and it would be more accurate to say she splattered it on.....everywhere.
Then I sliced ham and let her arrange it....then took it over when she was eating more of it than putting on the pizza. I handed her a butter knife and let her help me slice fresh mushrooms and olives....this too I ended up having to make her stop eating!
I didn't get pictures of every step because they were pretty messy steps, but I did get the most important part on camera.....adding the CHEESE!
The best part of the whole meal was seeing the pride in her little face because SHE made it with little help from Momma.
As we were eating it she kept saying "Momma, I am a pretty good pizza chef" and I had to agree!
Believe it or not we did not find a single blonde, curly hair in our pizza either! ;o)
