My birthday week, water fun and our new 'pet'.

Steven has been off this week, working of course....meaning he took off work to work around here. He's been replacing part of our fence, and when he does something he cannot just do it normally....he has to do it in such an awesome way that in my own in law's wording from yesterday that 'even a gail (sp) force wind won't take that sucker down.' Our new fence has consisted of huge metal pipe, which of course has to be welded together and he is still finishing up the gate, which he is guaranteeing won't sag. Love that guy....and love that he's a perfectionist. I feel guilty that he works his fingers to the bone and I get to play inside in A/C with an awesome little girl.....yes, I am pretty spoiled.

Brooke has LOVED waking up every morning this week to her Daddy still being here in bed. She squeals with delight "Daddy I SO glad you're here" numerous times a day. She also asks me at least once a week for a cookie, and I normally decline and fill her with something we already have at the house, but I gave in this week and we went to Cookie Bouquet and got us all a cookie. This is how she dressed for the trip....yep, the rake had to go too.

As I said earlier, Steven has been working outside in the heat. Brooke and myself want to be outside with Steven so she's been in the pool a lot. She made sure to assist Daddy in cooling off whenever he came close enough for her to get him. Believe me when I say he did NOT mind one bit.

Brooke loves grapes, and lately she has to put one in each cheek and act like a silly goose before eating them...and I call her my little chipmunk.

Which brings me to our new 'pet'......no, we didn't go out and buy anything.....but this morning out of the blue this little chipmunk (sorry guys, it's really a squirrel I will learn the difference eventually) adopted our family. He walked up to our storm door and even though Cooper was barking and whining at him and Brooke was hollering he did not budge one bit. See him on the blue bucket....posing perfectly to aggravate Cooper.

And again.....

THEN when Steven got back from the store.....he adopted Steven and now he thinks Steven is his mommy!! He ran right up Steven's pant leg and has been following him around ever since. He is such a sweet little critter, but not exactly a pet that people with a RAT terrier can keep around. Cooper has been whining and going nuts all day long.....and this calm little fellow walks any step any of us take.

Proof that EVERY kind of critter loves my hubby.....

I am supposed to be looking up an animal shelter of sorts instead of typing this blog. This chipmunk is SO friendly that he doesn't know NOT to run up to people. Since we came inside for lunch he has sent several runners running off faster while shrieking and the UPS man nearly dropped my breakable package when he saw him and yes, he squealed louder than the female runner. We don't want him to get hurt!!

One last thing....Yesterday was my 31st birthday, and although we had no big plans it was so nice to have Steven here....even if he was hot, sweaty and maybe a tad bit stinky....heehee. I had a very peaceful day with my wonderful family, then my extended family took me out to an awesome dinner. What more could a girl ask for?! Well, I got an awesome new kitchen table with extra chairs to boot.....you know who you are, thank you very much!! Thank you to all of my wonderful family and friends that helped make my birthday that much more wonderful! I'll check for wrinkles later.

I cannot believe that squirrel! I would be doing the UPS man and running for my life while screaming at the top of my lungs. Hope Brook hasn't seen the Chipmunk movie..she may think she needs to keep him around because he sings.
