5 days and counting....

To explain the title first, Brooke has been wearing big girl COTTON panties now for 5 days without any accidents....WOO HOO! A wise parent I know (you know who you are) basically told me the problem with Brooke being lazy with potty training is ME....yep, gotta love tough love friends. I was leaving Brooke in pull ups for a fear of her having an accident, and in turn when we were out she was potty trained very well and has been for months, BUT when we got home instead of going in the potty she would just go in the pull up. SO, even though we are fully stocked up with pull ups she has been wearing her cotton panties for 5 days now, and all 5 days she has not had a single accident (hopefully I didn't just jinx progress). That just proves that friend right.....my fear was making my child lazy about pottying!! Man, this parenting thing isn't always easy.

We've been staying busy lately..... Let's see, last blog post was telling you all about how Brooke LOVED her first swimming lesson, which she did. Second one however I took her home kicking and screaming for totally different reasons. We got a more forceful teacher on lesson #2 and although I liked him and his antics, Brooke did not. He ended up taking her from me kicking and screaming and told me all kids cry during swim lessons.....I am sure they do, but that doesn't make it any easier!! I don't want to give Brooke a fear of the pool, so the next time we go will be just to play, no lessons....then I will work her back in to the lessons. I don't expect her to know the backstroke at 3, but I just wanted her to learn some basics. I asked her this morning if she was ready to go swimming....her response, "no momma, let's just play in the sprinkler" hmmmm, where to go from here.....

It's been HOT here in West Texas, so we've been doing lots of stuff outside when we can. Yesterday Steven planted three new trees and while he did that Brooke and I decided to try our hands at planting stuff ourselves. I am trying to keep things alive and green, and also hoping to make my mother in law somewhat proud of me at least attempting this stuff....ha. Brooke and I now have a planter full of tomatoes, which she loves.....so, here's to hoping we can keep them alive! We also transplanted a lot of other greenery (don't ask specifics from me, I cannot give it) that my mom in law gave us.....so, with Brooke (and Steven's) help we will try to keep it all green!

So proud of our little green tomatoes.

IF they don't make it over 24 hours....here is why. She won't leave them alone. I also had to move my other plants because every time I'd turn around Cooper had another plant out of the planter and in his mouth!

How we all kept cool yesterday, we gave Brooke the water hose.....the rest was taken care of. As soon as we started getting warm Brooke would come spray us down again with the hose. What a helper! ;o) Notice Steven planting tree #2 in the background.

Doesn't this look like trouble, water hose in hand?! She really was being helpful.

This morning Brooke was being way too quiet, so when I went to check on her this is where she was.....a modern day version of E.T.

We will soon see if I give in to the sprinkler in the back yard idea or if we go back to the pool.
