First Swimming Lesson.

People who know me well know two of many things about me. Water....well, I love to drink it but have a fear of drowning....although, oddly enough I love boating and love pools...go figure?! I also avoid public places as if plagued people were there....so, I have been avoiding taking Brooke to her first swimming lesson for those two reasons combined, on top of the one word all women seem to avoid 'swimsuit'. I woke up this morning and decided I was going to MAKE myself take Brooke for HER.....and not make it about me at all. And, whatdayaknow....we both had a blast! Steven is a total fish in the water, and I do not want to pass any of my phobias onto Brooke.....so....guess what....she LOVES the water, loved the pool.....and yes, we will be going back. Warning now, there are lots of pictures! Sweet Steven came on his lunch hour to watch and took pictures....and yes, I think he'd be a better water partner for Brooke than me.

Our first few seconds in the pool.....yes, we already look red but it had to be because it was hot out. We were sunscreened and are no longer red.

This was Brooke's excitement for a while....not moving at all, just standing there with a huge grin on her face watching all of the other kids.

Me, trying to get her to stick her face in the water and blow......

And again with the assistance of our sweet instructor Colton, notice the hair is still bone dry.....as is her face.

Man, she IS definitely my child....she managed to blow bubbles and come up with dry hair! HA!

Notice she is wet from the top lip down....heehee, it takes a while.

The first thing she does anytime she gets wet.....

On her way to blow more bubbles.

This might have been one of her favorite parts (other than splashing me later on, luckily not pictured Steven was probably guarding the camera AND his work clothes). She is a good kicker.

More kicking.

Trying to get her to kick without the death grip around my neck.

And yes, I did have just as much fun as she did! I just didn't cry all the way home when it was time to leave!

At first our sweet instructor starting trying to get Brooke to blow bubbles in the water to get her face wet. Then when she would do that he grabbed some pennies and was holding them at the bottom of the pool asking her to get them. Well, the tall little stinker could reach the bottom of the pool AND grab the penny without having to stick her face in the water at all. She looked at him like, "yeah, and that was a big deal because?" So we'd move down to a little deeper water and try again. She jumped in the pool into our arms with help from Daddy. She went down the slide numerous times with help as well!

The ONLY down fall about taking these particular swim lessons is that they are at noon.....for anyone with a three year old on a schedule like Brooke is, this not only messes with lunch but with nap time. She is sound asleep now after crying all the way home, crying when I took her wet swimsuit off, crying when I put dry clothes on, etc.....
