Before I tell you a new favorite saying I have to tell you some of the reasons as to why it touched me. Growing up my awesome Daddy would always tell me to be happy with what the Good Lord gave me, never allowing me to compare myself to anyone else. The true meaning of those words did not register with me until I had a daughter of my own. It is amazing to hear how many people truly do compare people, specifically looks. Brooke will always be the most beautiful creature to set foot on this planet in my eyes, and I don't expect everyone else to agree with that.....well, maybe I still do. ;o) Every time my Dad hears someone say "Brooke looks like _____" my Dad will very politely stop them and say "Brooke looks like Brooke and she's perfect." Well, of course I like that and hope I can instill that way of thinking in my daughter as she grows up.
NOW, to the saying.....I was surfing through some friends MySpace pages and saw the saying
"I am not beautiful like you, I am beautiful like me" on it. I think that sums up the way we all need to think about our own looks. Looks are not everything, yes they will fade and all that jazz.....but in our society today I want to raise a happy, healthy, smart girl who can have confidence in herself in every aspect. This is why I have chosen this as a new favorite saying. I am going to try to stop comparing anyone to other people (myself included), God made us this way for a reason!!!
